Morrissey has inked a U.S. deal with Lost Highway for the release of his new album, "Years of Refusal," Billboard can reveal. Due Feb. 17, the project will be issued in conjunction with the former Smiths frontman's own Attack imprint.

Lost Highway is an intriguing destination for Morrissey, as it is most commonly associated with roots- and country-leaning acts such as Ryan Adams, Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett and Lucinda Williams. The label is also the U.S. home for Van Morrison and Elvis Costello.

"Refusal" will be supported by an extensive North American tour, including shows in three different New York venues (Bowery Ballroom, Webster Hall, Carnegie Hall).

The album was previewed for media last week in London, from where Polydor will handle the international release. First single "I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris" arrives Feb. 9; guitar legend Jeff Beck guests on the track "Black Cloud."

Here is the track list for "Years of Refusal":

"Something Is Squeezing My Skull"
"Mama Lay Softly On The Riverbed"
"Black Cloud"
"I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris"

"That's How People Grow Up"
"One Day Goodbye Will Be Farewell"
"It's Not Your Birthday Anymore"
"You Were Good In Your Time"
"Sorry Doesn't Help"
"I'm OK By Myself"

Morrissey's 'Years of Refusal' to Be Released in 2009

Tuesday, August 05, 2008

The new Morrissey Record, entitled 'Years of Refusal', has been pushed back from its original release date of this September to next year.

Also straight from Billboard.com

The 12-track "Refusal" was produced by Jerry Finn, who helmed Morrissey's 2004 album "You are the Quarry." Last month, Finn suffered a severe brain hemorrhage and remains hospitalized in Los Angeles.

"Years of Refusal" will be Morrissey's first studio album since signing with Polydor last year. It's the follow-up to 2006's "Ringleader of the Tormentors," which has sold 98,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Plans are still in the works for Sony BMG to reissue Morrissey's 1995 album "Southpaw Grammar" with remastered audio, three previously unreleased tracks and new artwork, but no date has been set.
And Now from 2004's 'You are the Quarry' here is the video for 'Irish Heart, English Heart'. An Excellent track from an awesome record.

What the heck is AC/DC's New Album Title Gonna Be?

Well after various reports the new AC/DC album is going to be called 'Black Ice', I have heard from others this may not be the case. Here is a comment by an Anonymous Individual

FYI: I think the new AC/DC release is officially gonna be titled "Dirty Rythm" (there is a song referencing Black Ice on the album though)

Can anyone confirm or deny this? Incidentally, AC/DC will embark on an 18-month world tour beginning this October in Wilkes Barre, Pa.

And Now here is the title track from their last release 8 years ago, 2000's 'Stiff Upper Lip'.

Slipknot is back with a New Album! And New Outfits!

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

Slipknot is getting geared to release their first record in 4 years. No title nor track listings have been confirmed, however according to lead singer Corey Taylor speaking to Billboard.com in regards to the new record:

"It's going to rip your face off," Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor tells Billboard.com with confidence. "I don't think the world will be ready for this album."

"Instead of bitching about what went wrong in my life, I'm bitching about what's wrong in life, period," Taylor says, noting that his vocals are much more melodic than before. "I got to the point where I was tired of pretending that I couldn't sing every time I made a Slipknot album, so this time I'm going all out."

He also goes on to say the record is "very dark" and the band is set to brand an all new outfit. The untitled forthcoming album is tentatively due Aug. 12 via Roadrunner Records.

Pearl Jam New Album News!

Saturday, May 03, 2008

Pearl Jam is back in the studio with their longtime producer Brendan O'Brien (Bruce Springsteen, Rage Against the Machine) according to Mike McCready, guitarist of Pearl Jam. O'Brien you may recall last worked with Pearl a decade ago with Pearl Jam's rave reviewed 'Yield'. O'Brien has also produced Pearl Jam's "Vs." (1993), "Vitalogy" (1994) and "No Code."

According to Billboard.com:

"Brendan works really fast," Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament told Billboard.com in March. "He's a super pro. I've always felt, working with him, that he understood me as a bass player and that's not always easy. A lot of producers are there to please the singer. But I've always had a great rapport with him. I can tell him I want something to sound like the O'Jays or Led Zeppelin or PJ Harvey and he gets it."

"We've always been friends," O'Brien told Billboard.com last fall. "They were great to me when we were making records together [before], and we still remained very good friends ... I still think they're a great band. Eddie [Vedder] has one of the best, if not the best, voices out there. When he sings, people believe them."
They are aiming to release the record in 2008, though only 3-4 songs have been written thus far.

Pearl is also set to hit the road to embark on a 13 date tour starting June 11 (Ticket Info). More news as it comes...
